The Video Word Made Flesh
A group show inspired by the films of
David Cronenberg
Bio-ports, bugs, exploding heads, deviant sex, mutant gynecological tools, and James Woods growing a vagina on his stomach. Given the endless amount of shocking and memorable imagery that David Cronenberg has captured on film, is there any Canadian artist more deserving of a tribute show? To coincide with the 34th Toronto International Film Festival, 107 Shaw Gallery presents The Video Word Made Flesh: A Tribute to David Cronenberg. Join us as we introduce Toronto to a number of emerging Canadian artists who have produced a series of affordable drawings, prints and paintings inspired by the work of Canada’s best filmmaker. This fusion of different media inspired by film is sure to be a retina scarring experience.
Artist whose works will appear in the show include:
Jason Ainsworth, Tomas Del Baso, Dennis Chow, The Dark, Jesjit Gill, Justin Gradin, Jeremy R. Jansen, Robert Mearns, Mr. Brown, Joshua Reichmann, Meghan Rennie, Ehren Salazar, Seripop, Tyler Quarles and a video by Middleschool w/ score by Parallels
The show has been co-curated by Mikey Apples (Toronto) and Michael Mann (Vancouver).

They Shoot Videos Videos Don’t They?, Vol 2
This is latest edition of our bi-monthly music video screening series. The event is curated by Scott Cudmore. Focusing on the directors, the works will be presented on a giant screen as well as monitors within the gallery with headphones. Rather than with a formal screening, viewers are free to explore the work on their own terms, much like you would with other work presented in a gallery setting. The point is to present music videos as an artistic product and a unique medium of filmmaking.
Volume 2 in the series will be held on Sept 25th and will include recent work by:
Exploding Motor Car, The General Assembly, Tobias Stretch, Jérémie Saindon, Patrick Watson, Matt Daniels, Marc Ricciardelli, Micah Meisner and Salazar Motion Picture Collective

Our Forgotten Ancestors
Cody Cochrane solo exhibition
107 Shaw is proud to present Our Forgotten Ancestors, a solo exhibition of new work
by Toronto based artist Cody Cochrane. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetic and traditions
of Native and First Nations culture, this first solo show in 2009 for Cody marks a year of
exploring new Mediums, as well as new motivations within the context of painting and illustration.
With the application of large and small-scale installation, sculpture and painting, this show
Strives to take things outside of the typical gallery format to create an environment that
Invites the viewer in, and elevates them from the role of a passive onlooker.

Portals
New Works By Eva Michon
Portals is a photographic series documenting puddles of water collected after a rainstorm. The water reflects images of the sky but often gives the impression of showing passage to another world. Eva Michon is interested in pursuing this suggestion in a playful way, but believes that one of these portals will reveal itself to be an actual doorway into another dimension.
Michon is interested in the supernatural power of everyday objects and situations. The documentation of commonalities in a series creates an evocation of other-worldliness in the objects.
Eva Michon is a South African-born, Polish artist based in Toronto. She graduated film school in 2008 and is also the co-founder and editor of Bad Day magazine, a quarterly arts journal.
